Vilmos Zsigmond’s heritage today
- Short video competition -

Upon its tenth anniversary, Zsigmond Vilmos International Film Festival announces a competition for short, 120 second videos about the work of its namesake. The task of the applicant is to create an engaging video about the Oscar-winning cinematographer, without any formal restrictions (animation, fiction, documentary, etc.). The theme can be approached freely, meaning that personal experiences, impressions and memories can play a role, or short stories can be told, but it can also contain actual locations or material found online. The main purpose of the competition is to focus on Vilmos Zsigmond’s work and significance.

Applicants may use external sources, recordings, and artificial intelligence, but the result must be an independent, unique product.

We accept videos in the following formats: MKV, MP4, MOV, or AVI.

Evaluation will be based on the creativity of the work regarding its form and content, and the presentation of Vilmos Zsigmond's significance, influence, and current role (or lack thereof).

Submission deadline: April 30, 2026, midnight

Entries should be sent to the following email address: zsigmondvilmosffsajto [at] gmail.com (zsigmondvilmosffsajto[at]gmail[dot]com)

The deadline for evaluating the entries and notifying the contestants: May 16, 2026.

The winning short films will be screened at the Zsigmond Vilmos International Film Festival awards ceremony on May 17, 2026, and will also be posted on the festival website and social media pages.
