CLOSE ENCOUNTERS WITH VILMOS ZSIGMOND

Documentary, France, 2016, 80 min
Director: Pierre Filmon

Close Encounters with Vilmos Zsigmond is a very special encounter. The last of the Mohicans, the legendary American cinematographer, 83-year-old Vilmos Zsigmond meets Pierre Filmon, a young French director. Pierre wanted Vilmos to shoot his first feature film. Waiting for its pre-production, after many encounters, another movie was born: a movie in which the cameraman stands in front of the camera. Shot in Paris, in California and in his homeland, Hungary, from May 2014 to March 2016, the film is a documentary about the director of photography of films such as The Deer Hunter, The Sugarland Express, Deliverance, Close Encounters of the Third Kind and McCabe és Mrs. Miller. A personal journey with the brightest shadow maker and his friends: directors, actors and cinematographers.
