Director of the films Fresh Air (2006), Adrienn Pál (2010) and Eden (2020). She was born in Budapest. She graduated in Polish, aesthetics and film theory from ELTE university, then in film directing from the University of Theatre and Film Arts. She spent two semesters on a scholarship at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome in 2003 studying directing and screenwriting. Her three short films were invited to several festivals, and one of them, The Virus, won a shared third prize in the Cinefondation section at the 59th Cannes Film Festival. Her first feature film, Fresh Air, also premiered at the 59th Cannes Film Festival in the framework of La Semaine de la Critique, and was nominated among the best four films in the Discovery Award category by the European Film Academy in 2006. Fresh Air has so far been screened on more than 80 international film festivals and won 14 awards. Her second feature, Adrienn Pál, received the FIPRESCI Award, i.e. the award of the International Federation of Film Critics, in the Un Certain Regard section at the 63rd Cannes Film Festival, and then went on to receive 20 prizes at different international festivals. Ágnes Kocsis was given the Béla Balázs Award in 2011.
